During the Christmas season, International Duty Free and Brussels Airport collaborated in a special fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Belgium. The Make-A-Wish foundation helps the dreams of (seriously) ill children come true: by taking them on a special trip, by arranging a meet-and-greet with their idol, by helping them become their dream profession or superhero for a day. No dream is too crazy for Make-A-Wish: whatever these kids dream of, they make it happen. With their magic, they bring unforgettable joy to ill kids’ otherwise challenging lives.
To allow Make-A-Wish to help even more children in 2019, Brussels Airport and International Duty Free joined forces to raise funds for this extraordinary organisation. As Belgian companies with a global reach, they are committed to help ‘close to home’, so they chose Make-A-Wish’s Belgian division.
During their busy Christmas season, shoppers at Brussels Airport were encouraged to buy one of the specially created Christmas baubles, of which the proceeds were entirely donated to the good cause. Volunteers were also present in the airport to explain travelers who Make-A-Wish are and what they do.
Their requests didn’t go unnoticed: the sales of the Christmas baubles gathered 4000€ in proceeds for the good cause! But: the generosity doesn’t stop there. Both Brussels Airport and International Duty Free decided to match the amount collected, and add 4000€ each to the donation, making a grand total of 12000€!
On Monday, January 21st, International Duty Free’s CEO Nicolas Van Brandt and Brussels Airport Company Chief Experience Officer Bart Saverwyns donated the 12000€ check to Make-A-Wish. A Christmas inspired action that will spread joy in the hearts of many ill children in Belgium in 2019!
